The modern internet is a hellscape...
Once a space for free expression, the internet has been swallowed whole.
Surveillance is no longer the exception but the rule. Every click, scroll, and keystroke is tracked, processed, and sold. The internet has become a panopticon, where the watchers profit while the watched comply.
So-called "content" is always about things instead of being the subject, the thing itself. It's like Russian dolls but in the form of sloppy entertainment. Layers upon layers of reaction, recap, and regurgitation—a pure waste of disk space, plain and simple. It's noise.
What once made the internet vibrant were its communities—small, niche spaces where individuals could connect over shared passions. Now these have been replaced by centralized platforms that value engagement metrics over meaningful interaction.
The web is no longer a place of exploration but a marketplace of boredom, attention, and labor exploited for profit. The face of Google is astroturfed with Reddit, bad irrelevant search results, and a plethora of ads.
Hope remains. Decentralized platforms, open-source technologies, and resilient communities continue to push back. The internet's spirit may be buried, but it is not dead.
It's time to let the modern internet collapse, never to be rebuilt. Kick attention seekers out, back to relay chat and web 1.0.
To become a "SOL", simply copy its entire contents as is, 1 to 1, on your site. This site is a quine, so click the button to download it.
This is a social experiment.
